AOA Thursday 7-6-2023

Thursday's AOA began with Mike Zuzuolo, of Global Commodity Research and Analysis, who has been watching the rain fall on SW Kansas with concern for this winter wheat crop. In segment 2, Brian Milne, Energy Analyst and Editor at DTN provided an update on the crude oil market and the competing factors driving price. Justin Tupper, President of the US Cattlemen's Association joined the show in segment 3 to discuss their upcoming Summer Business Meeting in Reno and the political issues he's watching this summer.

Wednesday's AOA began with a look at the commodity markets with DuWayne Bosse, of Bolt Marketing and we discussed the ongoing ramifications of the USDA's acreage report. In segment 2, Troy Schnieder and Denny Venekotter of the National Corn Growers Association Market Development Action Team for the July Monthly Grind discussion. In segment 3, Josh Baethge, Policy Editor at Farm Progress provided an update on the newly introduced livestock disaster aid bill from Sens Round and Tester.

July 3rd:

On Monday, AOA started with Darin Newsom, Senior Analyst at Barchart, who took time to review the USDA's Planted Acreage report from Friday and how it could impact traders' thinking. John Baranick, Meteorologist at DTN Weather joined the show for an update on the forecast for the week ahead. In segment three, Jacqui Fatka, Associate Editor at Agri-Pulse discussed the recent regulatory changes for cell-cultured meat and the challenges that industry faces going forward. The show ended with Joe Heinrich, Executive Director of the Smart Carbon Network, who talked about the positives behind carbon capture and sequestration technologies.

Friday's AOA began by looking at the impact of severe weather across the heart of the corn belt on Thursday with Eric Snodgrass, Nutrien Principle Atmospheric Scientist and his thoughts on the pattern change coming. In segment 2, Dennis Smith of Archer Financial Services discussed the Quarterly Hogs and Pigs report released on Thrusday by the USDA and also discussed some pretty juicy price targets for live cattle in 2024. Jeff Johnston, Lead Communications Economist with CoBank discussed the impact of recent USDA funding for rural broadband development.

Thursday's AOA began with Brian Splitt, of AgMarket.net to discuss the market's expectations on Friday's USDA reports and how he's managing these volatile levels. In segment 2, Marsha Boswell of the Kansas Wheat Commission joined the show with a look at the harvest progress and yields across Kansas. Josh Baethge, Policy Editor at Farm Progress, provided a rundown of several recently introduced bills in Congress and a look ahead to the Farm Bill.

Wednesday's AOA began with Mike Zuzolo, of Global Commodity Research and Analysis, who has been watching both European and US weather and thinks we could see further downside in the grains. Lance Zimmerman of RaboResearch discussed their recent BBQ Index report, looking ahead to meat and non-meat BBQ pricing over the summer. And the show closed with Bryan Riley, Director of the Free Trade Initiative about the trade changes recently agreed to between the United States and India.

AOA began with a look at the Biden administration's recent Endangered Species Act rulemaking with Sigrid Johannes, Director at the Public Lands Council. In segment 2, ShayLe Stewart, DTN Livestock Analyst, discussed the ongoing rally in the cattle complex and her perspective as both a producer and analyst. Chris Bliley, Senior Vice President of Regulatory Affairs at Growth Energy joined the show in segment 3 with a look at the EPA's final Renewable Volume Obligations for the biofuels industry.

In segment 3, Denise Bouvrette, North American Smart Corn Lead with Bayer, discussed their push to commercialize short stature corn and the roadmap to it's introduction for growers. To close the show, Erin Wroge, fuels specialist with CENEX, discussed the importance of maintaining your fuel system.
