On Wednesday's AOA, Dr. Jason Miller, Professor of Supply Chain Management at Michigan State discussed some recent global trade proposals and the challenges which still exist in the logistics industry. In segment 2, Teri Viswanath, Energy Economist at CoBank highlighted how declining gasoline demand could lead to declining diesel supply. With June 1 being World Milk Day, Krysta Harden, President and CEO of the US Dairy Export Council joined the show next to look at dairy demand around the world, and we closed the show with Dennis Smith, Archer Financial Services on the tremendous two day rally in the hogs.

Tuesday's AOA began with Darin Newsom, Senior Analyst at Barchart, who noted the technical levels that the market will try to hold on to this week. In segment 2, John Baranick of DTN Weather discussed the deluge in Texas over the weekend and looked ahead to weather in the major ag growing regions of the US. In segment 3, Brian Doherty of Total Farm Marketing discussed his long term impressions in the soy market and in the livestock trade. 

 

AOA Friday 5-26-2023

Friday's episode began with Donna Hughes, Senior Risk Manager at StoneX, outlining the weather changes in the southern plains and what could happen with the cotton market. In segment 2, Mary-Thomas Hart, Chief Counsel at National Cattlemen's Beef Association discussed the win for common sense in the Supreme Court's recent ruling in Sackett V EPA. With debt ceiling negotiations happening in DC, Center for Practical Federalism Fellow Steve Johnson joined the show to look at the impact of federal funding on state budgets, and how that could change with a deal. We closed with Naomi Blohm, who is encouraging cattle producers to keep an eye on the markets and use these prices to lock in some sales.

On Thursday, Ted Seifried of Zaner Ag Hedge joined the show with a breakdown of the grain complex and a look at the continued buying in live cattle. In segment 2, Emily Buckman, Director of Government Affairs at the American Farm Bureau Federation discussed the work they have been doing on the Right to Repair for ag equipment. Justin Tupper, President of US Cattlemen's Association helped break down the recent study from USDA about the confusion in Product of the USA labeling.

Mike Pearson reviewed several news of importance to agriculture in segment 3, and the show closed with Jesse Allen, Farm and Ranch Director for the American Ag Network discussing the future of equipment sales with Curt Blades of AEM.

Josh Linville, VP of Fertilizer at StoneX joined the show in segment 3 with a look at how the fertilizer market has moved in the past few weeks.
